ROMA PIR roof panels type RD – certified fire protection for large-area roofs

Greater safety and flexibility for planners, contractors and building owners: Our ROMA PIR roof panels type RD in insulation thicknesses of 142, 162 and 182 mm have successfully passed the DIN 18234-1 fire test. This means they meet the requirements of the German Industrial Building Guideline for large-area roofs subject to fire exposure from below – a key certification for roofing projects exceeding 2,500 m².

Tested fire protection

The Industrial Building Guideline stipulates that large-area roofs must be designed to inhibit the spread of fire across the roof surface. This requirement is considered fulfilled if:

  • the roofing system is tested in accordance with DIN 18234-1, or
  • the roofing consists of non-combustible materials (e.g. mineral wool roof panel type FD).

Greater choice with three certified insulation thicknesses

All our PIR roof panels meet the standard requirement for hard roofing as defined in DIN 4102-4 – they are resistant to flying sparks and radiant heat and contain no easily flammable components.

However, for large-area roofs over 2,500 m², DIN 18234-1 is additionally decisive in order to comply with the Industrial Building Guideline. For the ROMA roof panel type D, this certification was already available for the 142 mm version. With the new RD type, we have now successfully obtained certification for three insulation thicknesses (142, 162 and 182 mm) – providing greater safety and flexibility for large-scale projects.
